BIRKNER HUMANITARIAN AWARD
I attended the Sedona Film Festival with Ali Selim and our film Sweet Land, and was given the Birkner Humanitarian Award for my work in combating discrimination and fighting for equal rights.
THE ELIZABETH BIRCH EQUALITY AWARD
I got 2 shows off from Bent in London so I could fly to Dallas to receive The Elizabeth Birch Equality Award from the Human Rights Campaign at the Dallas-Fort Worth Black Tie Dinner. The Elizabeth Birch Equality Award is given annually to an individual, corporation or organization that has made a significant national contribution to lesbian and gay equality.
LIGALY AWARD
I flew back to the States from London, where I was rehearsing Bent to be honoured by LIGALY (Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth) at their On The Bay summer event in Bellport. The brilliant playwright Terence McNally presented me with the award.
