Here I am with the lovely Cheyenne Jackson at the DC Pflag Gala this past Saturday night. We had just gone around the room persuading people to make donations to the cause. Don't we look totally hot?
Last night I went to a screening of the upcoming HBO film Grey Gardens. I thought it was brilliant, and any qualms I had about the sacred documentary's legacy being fiddled with were totally unfounded. I am excited about my photo exhibition party this Saturday, see below for details. Also, fans of The High Life might like to know that the DVD has been re-released. Oh dearie me!

I, like everyone, am totally devastated by the sudden death of Natasha Richardson. The term 'life force' seems trite but that is what she was: a woman who powered through life and fascinated everyone she encountered. I have been thinking about the times I spent with her since I heard the news of her tragic accident, and the strongest memory I have is of her laughter, her unmistakeable throaty laugh. I think that's a great way to remember someone.
She was a brilliant actress. I will never forget her Blanche Dubois. It was almost too much, too real and raw. Liam and the boys and her whole family have lost an amazing woman. We all have. Goodbye, darling.

To coincide with me being the Grand Marshall of the Tartan Day Parade on April 4th there will be an exhibition of photos of me taken by my friend Francis Hills in NYC! I am very excited. I love working with Francis, and on Monday we are going to be shooting the last, most recent for the show and I think it will be a doozy!

I write this from a hotel in Oban, Scotland. it is so beautiful here and the air is so pure.
Tomorrow i go on the ferry to Mull and start shooting a BBC documentary called Scotland on Screen.
I found this thing on youtube. It's a conversation between me and the brilliant photographer Amy Arbus about our work together and her books of photography. Check it out, yo.

I am in Brighton, UK, having a few days with my besty friends Sue and Andrew. I just got back from Sweden where I took my brother to the Ice Hotel for his 50th birthday. I can't believe my brother is 50! Aside from the fact that his getting older means that I am too, it is also crazy to think that we can look back and remember what we were doing for his many other birthdays that ended with a zero.
Last week I shot a documentary about Scottish humour for the Blighty channel in the UK, as part of the My Brilliant Britain series. I had an absolute hoot. Next week I return to Scotland to do a show for the BBC called Scotland on Screen, where I'll be going to the places where various films were made, having screenings for the locals of the said films and then talking with them afterwards about how they think they and their homes have been perceived. I'll also be going round Cumbernauld with the amazing Bill Forsyth, talking aout his film that he shot there, Gregory's Girl.
I am very excited to be the Grand Marshall of the Tartan Day Parade in NYC on April 4th. I went for a fitting last week in Edinburgh for my kilt at my friend Howie's store 21st Century Kilts. Go and say hello to him if or when you are in Edinburgh.
