I played Leo, opposite David Morrissey in Russell T Davies’ Tip Toe , directed by Peter Hoar for Channel 4, and it was honestly one of the most amazing and challenging acting experiences I’ve ever had.
Talk shows
I talked a lot this year! Mostly about The Traitors and Pitlochry…
The Cut Up audiobook
I read the audiobook of third in Louise Welsh’ Rilke novels, The Cut Up
Club Cumming docuseries
My friends at World of Wonder shot a docuseries about my beloved cabaret bar Club Cumming, focussing on the characters who make it such a special and welcoming queer space, including cabaret singer Daphne Always, go-go dancer and drag performer Michelle Wynters, drag queen Brini Maxwell, drag king Cunning Stunt, comedian Jake Cornwell and Club Cumming co-owner and manager Darren Dryden. I appear too!
“My vision for Club Cumming has always been to create the ethos of old New York nightlife: A place for all ages, all genders, all colors, all sexualities, where kindness is all and anything can happen,” Cumming said. “It’s a cabaret club but also a dance club, a drag club, an art club, a community center, a safe space – it’s whatever the LGBTQ+ community needs and wants it to be. I’m so happy that World of Wonder and WOW Presents Plus is making this show about our Club Cumming tribe and showcasing the talents and the stories and the lives of these queer icons of tomorrow.”
“Club Cumming provides a stage for the kind of wild and wonderful artists who deserve to be celebrated,” added Randy Barbato & Fenton Bailey, Co-founders of World of Wonder and series exec producers. “The collective voices of Alan and the team make for a roar that will make you laugh, make you cry and above all realize the importance of cumming together now more than ever. Bringing Club Cumming to the screen is an incredible honor.”A new doc will go behind the scenes at Club Cumming, Alan Cumming’s gay bar and nightclub in New York. Club Cumming is a six-parter for streaming service WOW Presents Plus, which will premiere it in 2026.
Hosting
In January I hosted the AARP Movies For Grown Ups awards for the fourth time, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles in January. It was broadcast on PBS
In May I hosted the BAFTA TV awards in London, follows by the Clio awards for advertising in NYC a few days later.
I guest hosted the Jimmy Kimmel show on Monday 21st July and caused quite a furore with my opening monologue in which I addressed the anti-trans rhetoric and persecution that is rife in America. The cast of the Fantastic Four and Pamela Adlon were the guests I interviewed.
Finally in November I hosted the SLTN (Scottish Licensed Trade News) awards in Glasgow.
Billionaires are actually good
Stephen Colbert asked me to join him in his Billionaires Are Actually Good music video on The Late Show.
Avengers: Doomsday
After 23 years I returned to Nightcrawler, and was one of the legions of superheroes in Marvel’s Avengers:Doomsday
I shot my scenes at Pinewood and Shinfield in summer 25.
Lidl Campaign
I hosted the campaign to find Lidl’s new self checkout voice in Scotland! Lala joined me too.
Tartan Day Parade Grand Marshall
I was the Grand Marshall of Tartan Day Parade! in NYC!
This was my second time, having done it before in 2009. And in the evening I hosted the Hoolie at Carnegie Hall
Virgin Atlantic commercial
I shot a commercial for Virgin Atlantic’s Clubhouse at LAX
Concerts
It was my quietest year of concerts for a while due to my new responsibilities at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
2025 saw the final performances of my cabaret show Och and Oy! with Ari Shapiro and Henry Koperski. We did a spring tour of Eastern Canada, visiting Richmond Hill, Brampton, Ottawa,Halifax, St John and Fredericton, and ended it all (with a fountain going off behind us during our last number) at Kennett Square in Pennsylvania!
I continued with my solo show Uncut, playing in Orlando (where the show wad filmed), and also Irvine CA and Redbank NJ.
I also sang at a Michael Kors event at the Carlyle Hotel and at the WNET gala, also in NYC
Les Parfaits
I always wanted to do a film in French and it finally happened! Ludovic Bernard asked me to do his film Les Parfaits, which starred Audrey Fleurot and Ramzy Bedia . Les Parfaits is a caper film with the Parfait family scamming a Scottish whisky mogul (me) who just happened to have studied at the Sorbonne and thus speaks pretty perfect French!
Masterpiece Mystery
Once more unto the breach! I ventured to Boston for my annual hosting duties as Masterpiece Mystery host on PBS
Winter Words
Winter Words is the literary festival that takes place every winter at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. In 2025 this would be the first thing happening in the theatre since my appointment as Artistic Director so I was determined to make sure it was a doozy and act as a signal for what was to come in my full season of plays and also in the general spirit of how I wanted things to be at PFT. So I curated it and also DJ’d a big party on the Saturday night and invited the whole town!
